5 Reasons to Visit Navarre Beach this Spring

Updated: Mar 23, 2023

While we believe Navarre Beach is beautiful year round, Spring is an especially perfect time to visit! If just our opinion isn't enough to convince you, here are 5 more reasons to help make your decision to spend Spring Break on Navarre Beach even easier!

Escape the Cold and Beat the Heat! From November to February, Navarre Beach experiences average highs in the 60's and lows in the 40's which for most is far too cold to truly enjoy all that a beach vacation has to offer. Once March hits, it's a whole different story! While most of the US is still experiencing colder temperatures, and even snow in some areas, Navarre is just starting to warm up with average temperatures in the 70's and 80's from March-May, before reaching averages in the 90's from June-August. The warmer temperatures also bring warmer waters, with our Gulf beaches reaching water temperatures of up to 80 degrees in the Spring! Still not convinced that our weather is perfect for your spring break escape? Have you ever heard the saying "April Showers bring May Flowers?" While that may be true for most of the country, Navarre Beach is quite the opposite! The chance of experiencing a sunny and dry spring break are the highest with some of our lowest chances of rain occurring during Spring.

2.) Beat the Crowds!

For the longest time, Navarre Beach was known as Florida's Best Kept Secret thanks to our small town atmosphere. After being ranked as a best beach to visit on a few national lists, we didn't think we could consider ourselves a secret anymore so we changed our slogan to Florida's Most Relaxing Place. Our secret getting out did bring in larger crowds with more and more travelers wanting to experience what exactly makes us one of the best beaches to visit, but we still managed to hold onto our laid back island style. And, fortunately for us, all of our secrets weren't leaked…such as Spring being the best time to visit! Most of our new visitors flock to the beach during the Summer months once the kids are out of school. That means not only does Spring on Navarre Beach have the best weather, but you'll also beat the bigger summer crowds and have more beach space to yourself! Sure, we do get a small Spring Break crowd, but it's not the rowdy Spring Break crowd most people imagine when they think of a Florida Spring Break. The Navarre Beach crowd is much smaller than other spring break destinations and is made up of people more on our wavelength: Vacationers looking for a peaceful place to disconnect and unwind with their toes in the sugary white sands and the sounds of the emerald coast waves lapping at the shore!

3.) Fantastic Fishing!

What could be more exciting than fishing for, and catching, some of the most thrilling fighters found in the Gulf of Mexico? Home of Florida's longest fishing pier, and located just 30 miles west of Destin ("The World's Luckiest Fishing Village"), a trip to Navarre beach is sure to electrify all the fisherpeople in your group, from the newbie just starting out to the most experienced wrangler who's been at it for decades! Aside from Amberjack (Only in season from August-October), Snook has the most restrictions on its seasons and limits. It also happens to be one of the most coveted catches due to its aggressively fun fight and exquisite taste if you're lucky enough to reel one in! Luckily for you, 2 out of the 5 months of Snook season in the Gulf happen in the Spring: March and April! Come down for Spring Break to get some practice in, then come back in October during the Navarre and Destin Fishing Rodeos when this prized fish is back in season! In addition to Snook, other celebrated fish in season for Spring include Flounder, Permit, Spotted Sea Trout, and Triggerfish! Starting in March, Cobia also start migrating to our warmer Gulf waters! View the full fishing regulations calendar here! Whether you're fishing for sport, or looking to reel in your own fresh seafood dinner, a fishing trip to Navarre Beach won't disappoint!
